January 24th was the Tittsworth and Ayres Abominable Snowman Tour at the Modern in Vancouver. Earlier in the day I had heard that guestlist ended at 11 as the show was sold out and would easily be over capacity, I was so excited i could hardly contain myself. After a couple glasses of Oyster Bay Chardonnay i was feeling loose and good to go.

The fresh onions were diced and throw in with the salmon after it was drained and de-boned. The garlic was minced up and throw in with the mussels and and a little with the potato/broccoli mash up.

The mussels were open baked with parmesan cheese, white wine, oil, butter and some of the garlic. We ate the mussels as an appetizer.

The salmon was mixed with peas, onion and a little garlic, then lightly breaded and pan fried. The potatoes were boiled and mashed with butter, oil, steamed broccoli and garlic. This was the finished product.

All in all i had an excellent time and i would definitely do it again given the opportunity.
ps I listened to the Tittsworth and Ayres online mix and it was crap. Don’t believe the hype.

Yes, i love UGK, especially when they team up with 3-6 mafia. But you know what i love more? Drinking beer. Cheap Cheap beer. Look at my man Miguel disappearing behind this giant tower of suds. They drop these off at your table for $25 and i can’t remember how much beer is in it but trust me its a lot. They have their own taps built into them so you just pour your own whenever your glass gets low, or you can get really trill and drink straight from the tap (yes i did that). We drank way way too many, and the bill was way way cheaper than it should of been. Maybe its cause my homie David works there, maybe not. Fogg and Suds is located upstairs on the corner of Jervis and Robson, And Party And Bullshit And Party And Bullshit………………

This is the sort of thing i throw together when i don’t have to rush off to work in the morning. Clockwise from the bottom right: salsa, garlic (shaved with an ox if possible), cheddar cheese, baked beans, butter (no i didn’t use all that butter), 2 eggs beaten, spinach chopped up and tortillas. Fry the butter and garlic, throw in the spinach, then add the eggs until cooked. Heat your beans and tortillas then throw it all together.
Here’s a look at the finished product. GOOD MORNING.
Oh yea my coffee is the best too.

Just a little pasta dish I whipped up. Nothing that special but it looks good cooking right? This one consists of (right to left) a portabello mushroom, half a orange and yellow pepper each, half a white onion, some marinated artichoke hearts, a bunch of fresh basil and one diced up clove of garlic. For pasta i used this bag of cheese tortellini. The key to making your pasta taste extra good is to rinse it in white vinegar after it’s cooked and drained. Just throw in about a cap full and mix it up. I use cheap organic red sauce, fresh herbs and expensive olive oil to get that good taste. Thats how i roll but have it your way. Sourdough sliced and toasted for dipping. Now crack some vino and call that fly italian girl you met at the coffee shop… yadadamean?

Seattle is somewhat of a second home to me. I have friends nearing the hundred marker, i love the shops, i love the city, i love the venues, i love the parties but most of all i love Dick’s Drive In. This iconic burger shop first opened its doors in 1954, at 111 on NE 45th street where it remains today. Several other locations have sprouted up in the Seattle area since then. I headed down to Seattle last night to see Wu Tang Clan (review @ www.complexonline.com) and being the man that i am i decided to treat my dear friend Justina to her first experience at Dick’s. There are 2 things i can promise you about Dick’s: 1. there will be a line-up, 2. you won’t be disappointed. Your choices include the Deluxe (2 patties), the Special, Cheese burger or Hamburger. They serve fries, floats and best of all milkshakes (chocolate, strawberry or vanilla). I recommend the shakes however last night they were all out so i had a root-beer float, also delicious. Burgers come with all the trimmings and the shakes are truly the jump off (fries are unnecessary but delicious). The best part is you can get a deluxe (2.20) a shake (1.70) and fries (1.70) for less than 6 bucks. And really that is what eat street is all about. So take the I-5 headed south and turn off on the NE 45th street exit, hang a right and Dicks is 2 blocks up on your left. Just look how happy you will be!

You know what I love about Christmas? Its the little presents. I don’t mean stocking stuffers, or gifts you get from people you did favors for, or when you are kind of dating someone and they don’t want to spend too much money; no, i mean the little unexpected great gifts. It was a miserable rainy morning, i was probably hung-over and definitely a little depressed (no fam around for the holidays). Vine Grape Tomatoes = 2.55; Goat Cheese = .99/100g; Mixed Lettuce = 2.99/bunch; The lovely ladies at Bruce Eyewear delivering lunch for free? Yea you get it. Thanks especially to Elaine for the Christmas treats made with extra love. (Those are Tut’s fingers sneaking into my shot). MERRY CHRISTMAS .

Hi everyone, sorry for the long delay since my last entry. Things have been a little hectic lately but i have lots of updates. Lets begin. As I previously mentioned I love breakfast. However, eating fried eggs, butter, bread, cheese, potatoes etc etc, everyday is not the best way to stay healthy. There are several cheap, healthy alternatives for breakfast. My favorite in particular is yogurt and granola (its the hippie in me). For this particular entry I decided to prepare one of my more favorite combinations. The granola is really really cheap, (100g for 50c at Dollar Groceries bulk section). Couple that with a sliced and diced kiwi, dried and chopped apricot, sunflower and flax seeds … voila! A healthy, colorful, cheap, delicious breakfast ready to eat in less than 5 minutes. Enjoy..

There is something about all day breakfast that i find intriguing. There seems to be a large majority of the population who enjoy having breakfast for lunch or even later in the afternoon. Considering the wide selection of food choices available, why is it that people crave eggs, potatoes and toast as a staple meal? This foundation is the backbone of almost every restaurants breakfast menu. These breakfast building blocks have spiraled out of control to the point where breakfast menu are more extensive than some dinner menus. Who could have predicted the unimaginable combinations that people have created using a starting point of eggs, potatoes and toast. Anyway i love breakfast, there is something about having this consistently greasy meal which i find soothing, perhaps its the unlimited coffee refills. The first in a long list of breakfast establishments that i will be reviewing is Cafe Du Soleil. This spot, located at 1393 Commercial Dr. features, you guessed, all day breakfast. While there are a selection of other menu items to choose from, i will mention that i have only ever seen one person venture outside the breakfast menu. The atmosphere is soothing, a large open space naturally lit through the front windows, with plenty of seating carved from natural wood. My roomate ivan selected a blueberry smoothie which was delicious. The thickness was perfect and the blend of fresh blueberries and yogurt was just right. I opted for the coffee (50c refills, weak), scrambled eggs, served on-top of an english muffin and veggie ham, with fresh spinach and a large portion of hollandaise sauce… oh, and potatoes; all of which came reasonably priced (my breakfast was about $6.50). After spicing it up with the hot sauce (available at each table) i was in late breakfast heaven. It was a lazy Monday afternoon but it felt like Sunday. Peferct.
